The City of Troy’s public bodies began meeting electronically in April 2020. Since then, members of the public have been permitted to address an electronic meeting of a public body via email or voicemail. More recently, members of the public have been permitted attend electronic meetings remotely and participate in a public comment period electronically.
The City’s public bodies will begin meeting in-person on May 24, 2021. All meetings will be open to the public and will be held in a place available to the general public. Although gatherings of public bodies and attendees of meetings held by public bodies are exempt from the gathering restrictions of the May 6, 2021 Gatherings and Face Mask Order, the City must design these gatherings to encourage and maintain physical distancing, and must ensure that persons not part of the same group maintain 6 feet of distance from one another to the extent possible.
In order to help reduce the demand for in-person public attendance and participation, the City’s public bodies will continue to permit members of the public to address meetings via email or voicemail. Members of the public will also be permitted to attend electronic meetings remotely and participate in a public comment period electronically.
