On April 20, City Manager Mark Miller presented the fiscal year 2020-2021 proposed budget to the City Council. Visit troymi.gov/budget to download a copy of the proposed budget. Visit the City Council Meeting Archive page troymi.gov/meetings/MeetingArchive to download and/or watch the presentation.
The City Charter requires the City Council to adopt a budget for the ensuing fiscal year on or before the third Monday in May (May 18, 2020). The City Charter also requires the City Council to hold a public hearing before adopting a budget. The public hearing will be held during the May 11 regular City Council meeting.
Executive Order 2020-48 (EO 2020-48) extended the ability to remotely participate in public meetings through May 12. Although the current “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order (EO 2020-41) is in effect through April 30, social distancing practices and other mitigation measures may make remote participation preferable to in-person participation beyond that date. Accordingly, the City has posted the public hearing notice and is planning for possible remote participation for the May 11 regular City Council meeting.
These plans may change so please visit the City’s website for updates. In the meantime, community members are encouraged to watch the presentation, review the budget, and submit questions to CityManager@troymi.gov.
