Troy Mayor Ethan Baker Appointed to Advisory Board of United States Conference of Mayors

Troy Mayor Ethan Baker Appointed to Advisory Board of United States Conference of Mayors

Mayor Ethan Baker has been selected to serve on the Advisory Board of the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM). The USCM is the nation’s preeminent organization of city leaders that engages directly with the President and Congress to address the needs of America’s cities. Baker will serve alongside mayors from across the country to help shape the organization’s vision and agenda.

“I am very honored to be chosen by fellow mayors from cities small, large, and everything in between, to serve on the advisory board for the US Conference of Mayors,” said Mayor Ethan Baker.  “I look forward to working with conference leadership as we address the issues facing all of us, no matter the city, and no matter the mayor.  I’ve learned that although our cities and residents may be different, our problems are often very similar.”

“I am excited that Troy will have a seat at the table as we work to craft important policy for all of the United States. Our City is an exceptional one, and I firmly believe that what we do here in Troy can be beneficial to other cities throughout Michigan and the United States.  I’m grateful to have the opportunity to share our story and best practices, and in turn, continue to learn and grow from the experiences of our other great American cities,” Baker stated.

In addition to this new leadership role, Baker serves as a member of the Technology and Innovation Standing Committee in the Conference.

Mayor Baker joins seven other new USCM Advisory Board Members.  The other new members include:

  • Beaverton (OR) Mayor Lacey Beatty
  • Columbia (MO) Mayor Barbara Buffaloe
  • Columbia (SC) Mayor Daniel Rickenmann
  • Hartford (CT) Mayor Arunan Arulampalam
  • Noblesville (IN) Mayor Chris Jensen
  • Pensacola (FL) Mayor D.C. Reeves
  • Tigard (OR) Mayor Heidi Lueb

The Advisory Board Members were elected as part of the USCM’s new leadership team at a business meeting of the Conference, which also marked the close of the organization’s 92nd annual meeting. More than 200 mayors from across America gathered in Kansas City, Missouri for the weekend’s session.

The US Conference of Mayors is the official non-partisan organization of over 1,400 cities with populations of 30,000 or more. Each city is represented in the Conference by its chief elected official, the mayor. Conference policies and programs are developed and guided by an Executive Committee and Advisory Board, as well as the Standing Committees and Task Forces which are formed to meet changing needs.
