The TFWA is comprised of wives and significant others of Troy firefighters, as well as other women who have a special interest in this activity. In addition to providing support to firefighters at incidents in the form of refreshments, they work to provide “care kits” to families who have suffered a fire and cannot stay in their home. These kits provide basic essentials on a temporary basis as well as pre-arranged overnight stays with local hotels. Their work is self-funded through various fund raisers held throughout the year.
The TFWA has been instrumental in the creation of the Firefighters Memorial Tree Planting at Firefighters Park in honor of our past firefighters.
Firefighter Memorial Project
In an effort to honor our past volunteers, the TFD is putting forth a fundraising effort for a permanent Firefighters Memorial to be appropriately located within Firefighters Park. The majority of funding is to be raised by our volunteer members, and we are seeking donations in addition to hosting fundraising events. In our 78 year history, this is the first organized effort to raise funds for such a project.
If you would be willing to contribute a donation to support this worthy cause, the members of the TFD would be most appreciative. Donations can be made in care of the Troy Firefighters Community Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, for which your donation is eligible for a tax deduction.
