Passport Processing

PLEASE NOTE:  WE HAVE NO PASSPORT APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE UNTIL SEPTEMBER 6, 2023. 

We accept Form DS-11 Passport Applications, for either routine or expedited processing. 

Routine processing is currently 10 - 13 weeks; expedited processing is 7 - 9 weeks.  Mailing time is NOT included in these processing times.

BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, 9:00am to 2:00pm, Monday - Friday.
Call 248-524-3333 during office hours, 8:00am to 4:30pm, to make appointment.

We do NOT offer passport photo services.  Look for participating drugstore or FedEx locations to obtain a passport photo.

The Treasurer's Office is located on the second floor of City Hall, 500 W Big Beaver Rd in Troy.

Form DS-11 applications are for:
First time applicants;
Applicants under age 16;
Applicants whose previous passport was issued before age 16;
Applicants whose passport was lost, stolen or damaged;
Applicants whose previous passport was issued more than 15 years ago.

If you select FORM FILLER or Fill Out Online, you can enter your information electronically, then print the completed form.

If you choose to complete a blank form, use black ink.  We have forms in our office.

If you are eligible to renew an adult (10-year) passport that has not expired, or expired less than five years ago, you must complete and mail Form DS-82 on your own.  Use this link: Form DS-82 for Renewal

DS-11 Passport Application Checklist:
  - MUST SUBMIT A CHECK or MONEY ORDER to U.S. Dept of State for application fees (see Passport
          Fee Chart above,
and confirm the amount with us);
  - There is an additional processing fee that is paid to our facility;
  - Applicant must be present;

  - Minors 15 years and younger must be present with both parents -
          (or one parent w/ notarized Form DS-3053 w/ copy front & back of DL);
  - For 16- and 17-yr-olds, it is preferable to have at least one parent present with them;
  - Must provide social security # on application;
  - Must bring a passport photo taken within last six months (we do not offer passport photo services);
  - For first-time and all minors (15 yrs or younger), must submit ORIGINAL AND A PHOTOCOPY
          of birth certificate (w/ parents' names listed) OR naturalization certificate;
  - If 16 or older, previous passport can be submitted in lieu of birth certificate;
  - If 15 years or younger, previous passport must be submitted IN ADDITION TO birth certificate.
