Records Section 

• Handgun Purchase Permits: 

  As of February 13, 2024, a License to Purchase a handgun is now needed from a local law enforcement agency if the purchaser does not have a Concealed Pistol License (CPL).  Residents of Troy can apply for a License to Purchase at the Records Section, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8:00 am – 3:30 pm.

• Fingerprinting: Available Monday - Friday, 8 am - 3:30 pm to anyone who lives or works in the City of Troy. 
• Dog Licenses:  Oakland County dog licenses may be purchased at the Police Records counter.  The owner must provide proof of rabies.  Fees are dependent on if the dog is spayed or neutered, and if the dog owner is over 65.  Licenses must be purchased before June 1 each year to avoid late fees.  Payment is accepted in cash or check only. Dog licenses may also be purchased from Oakland County Animal Control.
