Troy Police Department Community Outreach

Community Policing
The Troy Police Department practices a problem solving, collaborative approach to policing frequently called community policing.  All of our officers employ this approach.  The Department is also equipped with a Community Services Section that focuses on community outreach and education efforts.

History
The Troy Police Department has long used a community policing approach.  The effort has taken different forms over the years.  The Department received a C.O.P.S. Ahead grant in September 1995 to form a structured Community Oriented Policing (COP) unit.  The COP Unit merged with the Crime Prevention Unit in 1997 to form today's Community Services Section.

Events
The Department hosts several events throughout the year, offering a chance for mutual exchange between officers and community members.  Please check out our upcoming events.

Troy Police Fortify House of Worship Security Group
The Troy Police Department values the contributions that the many, diverse houses of worship make to our community.  The Department aims to support all houses of worship in their safety and security efforts through Fortify.  The Department hosts periodic training and networking events for house of worship leaders and security team members.  Please check out upcoming events or contact Officer Greg Pokley at pokleyga@troymi.gov for additional information.

Community Resources

The Community Services Section is the primary police resource for special events such as block parties, marches, parades, runs and walkathons.  The Community Services Section also provides community programs on a wide variety of safety-related topics for any community group or business, as well as crime prevention services.  Please call 248.524.3477 for more information.
