Codes Currently in Effect

The Michigan Codes are the international codes with state amendments. All Commercial building permit submittals should be in PDF Format with an electronic sign and seal by an architect and must be digitally sized 24 x 36 or greater unless otherwise approved by the Building Department. All residential permit submittals may be submitted through bsaonline or emailed to buildinginspection@troymi.gov

ALL dryer exhaust ducts shall be mechanically fastened and sealed at all joints. If you have any questions please contact the Mechanical Inspector at 248-524-3353.

  •  2015 Michigan Residential Code Current Code - Effective February 8, 2016

Boiler Code

Collectively the codes and act listed below make up the complete Boiler Code. Current Code - Effective November 30, 2013

  • 2010 ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes with 2011 addenda

  • 2016 PA 407 Skilled Trades Regulation Act

Fire Code

  • 2015 International Fire Code (Adopted by the City of Troy).

Energy

  • 2015 Michigan Energy Code - Effective September 20, 2017

  • ASHRAE 90.1 2013 Part10A Michigan Uniform Energy (Accept COMcheck or ASHRAE compliance sheets).

Elevator Code (Inspected and regulated by the State of Michigan)

Collectively the standards and rules listed below make up the complete Elevator Code. - Effective July 11, 2014

  • 2010 ASME A17.1 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators
  • 2011 ASME A18.1 Safety Standard for Platform Lifts and Stairway Chairlifts
