City of Troy Announces New Public Works Director

(Troy, MI) Troy City Manager Brian Kischnick announced that Kurt Bovensiep has been chosen as Troys new Public Works Director. 

 

Kurt Bovensiep is a second generation City of Troy employee and has served the City of Troy for many years in the Public Works Department, City Manager Brian Kischnick said. Since his hire in 2000, Kurts service to our community has been exemplary and thanks to recently retired Public Works Director Tim Richnaks service, the fine tradition weve had in place will continue under the leadership of our new Public Works Director Kurt Bovensiep.

 

Kurt Bovensiep started his career in Troy as a laborer in the Water Department in May 2000.  He transferred to the Parks Division on September 15, 2001 as a Forester and was promoted on April 21, 2007 to Parks Field Supervisor.  On October 1, 2011 he was promoted to Superintendent of Parks, Streets and Drains and reclassified as Public Works Manager on July 5, 2014.  Kurt Bovensiep is a Troy High School graduate and has an Associate Degree from Oakland Community College in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Phoenix in Public Administration.

 

As the new Public Works Director, Kurt will oversee the following departments: Fleet, Water and Sewer, Building Operations, Parks, and Streets and Drains.

Kurt is carrying on the Bovensieps family tradition of public service.  His dad, Rod Bovensiep, worked for the City of Troy for 38 years.  Kurts wife Robin works for the Avondale School District.  They have a daughter Caleigh, 9 years old and a son Wyatt, 7 years old.
