City of Troy Recognizes Contributions for New Park

(Troy, MI) The City of Troy is pleased to announce the receipt of two major contributions toward the development of a new park on the east side of Livernois Road north of Big Beaver. This park will also be the future home of the Citys Dog Park. Troy business owner Barbara Knight has contributed $100,000 towards the new park development, which will be situated just north of the new Stonecrest of Troy Senior Living Center being developed by North Point Development. North Point has also made significant contributions to the new parks infrastructure which will tentatively open the summer of 2017.

The City of Troy is now accepting nominations for the name of the new City Park. To submit a nomination and view the Park Naming Policy visit troydogpark.org/namethepark. This policy requires the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board to hold a public hearing to consider all nominations. The Public Hearing is scheduled for July 14, 2016 at 6:30 pm in Room 303 at the Troy Community Center. At the conclusion of this public hearing, the Board will recommend a name for the park to the Troy City Council. The Troy City Council will make its decision on the name for the new park at a subsequent City Council meeting.
