Who Killed Heinrich Bachmann?
Shortly before noon on August 11, 1997, Heinrich Bachmann was found shot to death in the living room of his home at 4828 Butler Street in Troy. He had spoken to his father around 6:30 p.m. the previous night.
Bachmann, 42 years old at the time of his murder, was the owner of the Cass Avenue Brake Service in Pontiac. He had taken over the business from his father in 1989.
It is believed that Bachmann was killed by someone known to him. He was murdered by a single gunshot to the back of his head. There were no signs of forced entry into the home. Two vehicles that he owned were left at the residence and nothing was missing from the home. Only one drawer in a bedroom appeared to have been ransacked. Robbery does not appear to be a motive.
In addition to the $1,000 CrimeStoppers Alliance reward that was initially offered, the Bachmann Family is offering an additional reward of $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.
