The Troy Parks and Recreation Department, through its Adaptive Recreation Program, offers recreation programs for persons with disabilities. We encourage your input. Please contact Elaine Torvinen at 248.524.3484 with your suggestions.

All participants in the Adaptive Recreation Program are required to have a Registration/Medical Form on file. Please complete the Adaptive Registration/Medical Form and bring it to your first activity.
Offered fall and winter at the Troy Community Center on Tuesday evenings for persons with developmental disabilities. Registration is required. Minimum age: 16
Saturdays (except holiday weekends and July and August) from 10 am - 12 pm at Troy Lanes (located on Square Lake just west of John R). The $6 per week fee includes shoes and three games of bowling. Reservations are not required. Minimum age: 10
Daytime Friendship Club
For adults with developmental disabilities. Meets at the Community Center every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 am - 3 pm Activities include sports, fitness, movies, games and more. Registration by the month is required. Minimum age: 18
For teens and adults with developmental disabilities, this club meets on the second, third and fourth Monday evening at the Troy Community Center. The first Monday is Chair Yoga, the second Monday is Movie and Pizza night, the third Monday is Karaoke and Dancing, and the fourth Monday is Bingo night. Reservations are not required. Minimum age: 13. Chair Yoga begins on October 3, 2016 at 6:30pm.
This dance for teens and adults with developmental disabilities is held on the second Friday of each month (except July and August) at the Troy Community Center from 7 - 9:30 pm. Nominal fee at the door. Reservations are not required. Minimum age: 16
A Thursday evening league for teens and adults with developmental disabilities plays against other cities in Oakland County May through August. Practices are held on Thursday evenings prior to games beginning. Registration is required. Minimum age: 16

Team Troy Special Olympics participates in swimming, track and field, and golf. Watch for information in the Friendship Club Newsletter. Minimum age: 8. Call 248.370.0922 or visit www.somi.org for more information.
For teens and adults with developmental disabilities. Tuesdays at 5:30 pm and again at 6 pm at Big Beaver United Methodist Church, 3753 John R, Troy. Through a scholarship from Weight Watchers, the fee is .50 per week plus a $1 initiation fee. Braille is available. Persons accompanying a program participant may participant for the same fee.
