Parks and Recreation Department Continues to Operate! Our Commitment to You!
We want you to know that the Troy Parks and Recreation programs, activities, and facilities you have long enjoyed and participated in continue to operate!
You can be assured that any programs that are scheduled and promoted will not be cancelled due to budget constraints and you can count on those programs being completed. While the City is facing serious fiscal shortfalls and adjustments may be necessary in the future, those changes will be publicized well in advance so that you can plan accordingly.

It is the mission of the Parks and Recreation Department to enhance the quality of life with leisure opportunities for residents and businesses by providing recreation programs; facilities; parks; and related services. The Department promotes a healthy lifestyle for all age groups, regardless of physical abilities, and enriches cultural and natural resources through community interpretive programs.

The Troy Parks and Recreation Department provides programming, parks, and facilities for residents and the business community. We strive to meet a wide range of interests with fun, rewarding opportunities. From toddlers to seniors, swimming to needlepoint, we give you access to favorite past times and new adventures.

DID YOU KNOW?
- The Community Center once again attracted more than 1 million visitors last year.
- The Community Center had 6,865 recreation members active on June 30, 2009.
- The busiest month in the recreation area at the Community Center is May and the busiest day of the week is Monday. Daily average attendance is 2,980.
- Meals on Wheels volunteers delivered more than 25,000 meals to homebound seniors last year.
- Over 20,000 new trees have been planted in residential rights-of-way and on municipal grounds, replacing the estimated 25,000 ash trees removed due to the Emerald Ash Borer.
- Annual attendance for senior programs is more than 117,000.
- Participation in senior citizen programs averages 471 per day.
- The Nature Center services more than 28,000 people last year through education, programming and visits.
- More than 63,000 visitors have picnics at our 6 park shelters annually.
- There were 5,347 meeting room reservations at the Community Center last year.
