Stephenson Highway is scheduled to receive an asphalt pavement overlay from 14 Mile Road north to the 1-75 overpass (north of 15 Mile Road). This project includes milling (grinding off) select areas of the existing pavement, full depth patching of deteriorated pavement and placing a new asphalt pavement surface. Work has started and is scheduled to be completed by the end of Summer 2024.

2. MAJOR ROAD OVERLAY – ROCHESTER ROAD REHABILITATION
Rochester Road between north of Sylvanwood and South Blvd is scheduled to receive an asphalt pavement overlay. This project includes milling off the existing pavement, placing a new asphalt pavement surface, adding right turn lanes on north and south bound Rochester at E Square Lake Road intersection. Work is anticipated to start in July 2024 and to be substantially complete by December 2024.

3.  ELLIOT AVENUE WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT
This project will replace an existing 8-inch cast iron watermain located along Elliott Avenue between Minnesota Rd. and Dequindre Rd. The existing 8-inch main will be replaced with a 12-inch watermain ductile iron pipe. The street within the project limits will be resurfaced. The work has started and is anticipated to be completed by the end of Summer of 2024. East bound traffic only on Elliott during construction.

4.  BADDER DRIVE WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT
This project will replace an existing 8-inch cast iron watermain located along Badder Dr. between Rochester Rd. and the west edge of Redwood Park. The existing 8-inch main will be replaced with a 12-inch watermain made of PVC and Ductile Iron pipe materials. Work already started and is scheduled to be completed in the Summer of 2024.

5.  2023 SANITARY CLEANING AND TELEVISING – VARIOUS LOCATIONS
City DPW staff proactively cleans and televises the smaller diameter sanitary sewers in the City.  The larger diameter trunk line sewers require specialty equipment. This project consists of cleaning and televising of existing larger diameter sanitary sewer at various locations within the City from 2023 - 2025. The crew will be cleaning and televising pipes along Long Lake, Eckford, Kirts and Brinston for Year 2024. Additional locations may be added depending on schedule and budget.

2024 SANITARY SEWER ROOT TREATMENT – EXACT LOCATIONS TO BE DETERMINED IN THE SUMMER
The Department of Public Works (DPW) proactively cleans and televises sanitary sewer lines throughout the City. During this cleaning and televising process, sewer lines with extensive root intrusions are identified for treatment. This project will treat the roots in the selected City sanitary sewer lines. Work is anticipated to start in July 2024 and to be completed by the end of Fall of 2024.

CATHODIC PROTECTION & MANHOLE REHABILITATION – VARIOUS LOCATIONS
In an effort to prevent further corrosion of the City’s six (6) metal sanitary pump stations from the surrounding soils, the City will be implementing a sacrificial galvanic cathodic protection system (SACP System) at each pump station. This process consists of installing “sacrificial anodes” (which are made of a metal that is more easily corroded than the pump station walls) around the outside of each underground pump station and connecting the anodes to each pump station. The anodes will corrode before the pump station walls, reducing the corrosion of the pump stations, thus earning the name “sacrificial anode”. The Department of Public Works (DPW) has also identified various sanitary manholes throughout the City which will need to be rehabilitated due to deterioration. Work is anticipated to begin in the Summer of 2024 and be completed in the Fall of 2024.

6.  CHARNWOOD CHIP SEAL
The streets within Charnwood Hills Subdivision No.1, No.2 and No.3 is scheduled to receive chip seal asphalt surface treatment. This process consists of distributing a thin base of hot asphalt onto the existing pavement and then embedding finely graded aggregate into it. The pavement will then be sealed with a top layer. Work is anticipated to start July 2024 and to be completed by December 2024.

7.  MAJOR ROAD CONCRETE SLAB REPLACEMENT – COOLIDGE ROAD
Select areas of concrete pavement will be removed and replaced on Coolidge Highway, from Long Lake Road to the intersection of Wattles. Work will begin Spring 2024 and is anticipated to be completed early Summer 2024.

8.  INDUSTRIAL ROAD CONCRETE SLAB REPLACEMENT – VARIOUS LOCATIONS
Select areas of concrete pavement will be removed and replaced on Kirts from Livernois to Crooks and on Golfview between Big Beaver and Coolidge. Work will begin Summer 2024 and is anticipated to be completed Fall 2024.

LOCAL ROAD CONCRETE PAVEMENT REPLACEMENT – VARIOUS SUBDIVISIONS
The Department of Public Works (DPW) will be replacing concrete pavement at scattered locations on local subdivision roads throughout the City.  Specific locations are not shown on the map.  Additional information is available at: www.troymi.gov/streetsprojects.

BIG BEAVER LANDSCAPING
The Troy Downtown Development Authority (DDA) was established in the City of Troy in 1993 to engage in long-range planning for the downtown area. Several improvements to the 3.5-mile-long corridor have been accomplished since its creation, which includes the construction of the Somerset North Parking Deck and Troy Community Center, the widening of Big Beaver and other infrastructure improvements, and upgraded street lighting and landscaping. The DDA continues its investment with a re-landscape project at Big Beaver and I-75 within the diverging diamond. The project will begin in late April and last through mid-November 2024. Single lane closures will occur with the project for east- and west-bound Big Beaver. More information about the project can be found at troymi.gov/dda.
