QUARTERLY CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

1. MAJOR ROAD OVERLAY – JOHN R, 14 MILE TO MAPLE
The City of Troy, in cooperation with the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) are rehabilitating John R Road, from 14 Mile Road to Maple Road.  This project includes milling (grinding off) the existing pavement and placing a new asphalt pavement surface; replacing deteriorated concrete curb and gutter; upgrading pedestrian crossings to comply with American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements; and improving drainage where necessary.  Work is anticipated to start in August 2023 and all pavement construction is to be substantially completed by November 2023.  All construction, including restoration, is to be completed by Spring 2024.  

2. SECTION 27 PAVEMENT REHABILITATION
Overlay paving has been completed for the following streets: Starr, Hickory, Cherry, Algansee, Woodslee, Larchwood, Arthur, Robinwood, Plum, Kirkton, Beech Lane, Eastport, Westwood, Van Courtland, Enterprise, Cook.  The following streets are going to be paved: Hartshorn, Birchwood, Vermont, Chopin, Mastin and Linda. All pavement construction is to be substantially completed by the end of October 2023.  All construction, including restoration, is to be completed by November 2023.

3.  2023 WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS – COOLIDGE, MAPLE TO DERBY, SECTION 26
The City has identified multiple gap areas in the water main network that need to have new water main placed in order to close the gaps, have a more efficient and redundant water works system and provide better fire protection.  Also, the City is proposing to transfer all services and fire hydrants from the soon to be abandoned 8 inch water main on Coolidge Ave. from Maple to Derby to the adjacent 16 inch water main.  Construction is scheduled to start in May 2023 and be substantially complete by the end of December 2023.  Pavement repairs, restoration and final project cleanup will take place in the spring of 2024.

4.  BADDER DRIVE WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT
This project will replace an existing 8-inch cast iron watermain located along Badder Drive between Rochester Road and the west edge of Redwood Park. The existing 8-inch main will be replaced with a 12-inch watermain made of PVC and Ductile Iron pipe materials. Work is anticipated to begin in the Winter of 2023 and be completed by the Spring of 2024.

5.  2023 SANITARY CLEANING AND TELEVISING – VARIOUS LOCATIONS
City DPW staff proactively cleans and televises the smaller diameter sanitary sewers in the City.  The larger diameter trunk line sewers require specialty equipment. This project consists of cleaning and televising of existing larger diameter sanitary sewer at various locations within the City for the next 3 years. The work has started in July 2023 and is be completed by December for the calendar year of 2023. The crew is currently cleaning the truck sewer along Big Beaver Road. Crews are working in night shifts from 8PM to 5AM to avoid large flows in the pipe.

6.  MAJOR ROAD CONCRETE SLAB REPLACEMENT – COOLIDGE & ROCHESTER ROADS.
Select areas of concrete pavement will be removed and replaced on Coolidge Highway, from Long Lake Road to the intersection of Wattles, Rochester Road from Harris to I-75 and Rochester Road, South of E. Maple. Work will begin after July, 2023 and is anticipated to be completed by the end of November, 2023.

7.  INDUSTRIAL ROAD CONCRETE SLAB REPLACEMENT – VARIOUS LOCATIONS
Select areas of concrete pavement will be removed and replaced on Chicago, Troy Ct., East Bound Kirts from Crooks to Livernois, Lakeview South from Big Beaver to Golfview & Golfview South of Big Beaver to West of Coolidge.  Work will start after July, 2023 and is anticipated to be completed by the end of November, 2023.

8.  LOCAL ROAD CONCRETE PAVEMENT REPLACEMENT – VARIOUS SUBDIVISIONS
The Department of Public Works (DPW) will be replacing concrete pavement at scattered locations on local subdivision roads throughout the City.  Specific locations are not shown on the map.  Additional information is available at: www.troymi.gov/streetsprojects.
